REWILDING

What happens when the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea?

Out of my fascination for what it means to live on an island – Ireland and Sicily – REWILDING is born.

Rewilding is an exploration of roots and displacement, of longing and rebirth imbued with an infinite passion for the two cultures – Irish and Sicilian – which have nourished my path with poetry, melody and mythology.

Rewild: “to return to a more natural or wild state; to make or become wild again”. REWILDING poses the question whether it is possible to reconcile the different roles that affect a woman’s identity – can the mother and wife/partner co-exist with the artist? I have found that something must cede, and from the pain that ensues we can learn to deconstruct outmoded givens and become architects of our own destiny. All the while honouring what is sacred with unwavering dedication to the truth.

REWILDING comes out of a deep connection to earth and water, passes through the metaphorical fork in the moss-drenched forest, invokes the purest mountain air and takes us to the edge of female desire. It tells stories of love and disenchantment that come from the womb, the volcano and the full moon.

REWILDING knows this: scratch beneath the surface and you will find we all want to be wild again.

A journey from one island to another, featuring layered vocals and cello, with earthy contributions from wild travel companions, Rewilding is in organic production in Onda Sonora Studios, Monreale (Palermo).
