RADICA Fest, Italia:
Rewilding, Bronagh Slevin – Before the auditorium rose a wildness: a breath between voice and cello that resonated through the ancient place… a weaving of sounds which illuminates the invisible.”
(“Davanti all’auditorium di Santa Maria dei Poveri il selvatico ha preso voce: un soffio tra canto e violoncello che ha fatto vibrare il luogo e il suo respiro antico… un intreccio di suoni che illumina l’invisibile.”)
World Music Lab, Italia
“In times of AI and enormous chaos, JOURNEY comes like a breath of fresh air: organic, human-made music rooted in a universe of true, felt emotion.”
(In tempi di IA e grande caos, JOURNEY arriva come un’onda di freschezza : musica organica, umana, e radicata in un universo di emozioni vere e contagiose.)
SHORT BIO
Bronagh’s musical trajectory spans electronica and downtempo to alt folk, blending Mediterranean textures from her adopted island Sicily with melodies carried in her Irish roots. She has had the privilege of working with world-renowned producers and has performed on stage with extraordinary musicians from across the globe.
In her solo work, Bronagh explores the intersection of poetry and music, sounding the edges of voice and cello to rediscover ancestral songlines. REWILDING, out in June, is an exploration of roots, displacement and rebirth imbued with an infinite passion for the two islands, Ireland and Sicily, which have nourished her path with poetry, melody and mythology. Inspired by ritual song and deep listening, incantatory lyrics meet a stirring symbiosis between voice and cello inviting us to tread the wild path back to ourselves once more.
REWILDING comes out of a deep connection to earth and water, passes through the metaphorical fork in the moss-drenched forest, invokes the purest mountain air and takes us to the edge of female desire. It tells stories of love and disenchantment that come from the womb, the volcano and the full moon.
REWILDING knows this: scratch beneath the surface and you will find we all want to be wild again.
LONG BIOG
Bronagh’s musical trajectory spans electronica and downtempo to alt folk, blending Mediterranean textures from her adopted island Sicily with melodies carried in her Irish roots. She has had the privilege of working with renowned producers Steve Osborne and Ben Hillier with Bristol band Crustation, and has performed on stage with international musicians such as Javier Girotto, Antonio Salis, Karl Seglem and Crysanthi Gkika. Her songwriting draws the listener into the story, the myth, the mystery of attempting to live an authentic life, reconnecting to the sacred in human experience.
In her solo work, Bronagh explores the intersection of poetry and melody, sounding the edges of voice and cello to rediscover ancestral songlines. Her music isn’t linear but rather spirals through an emotional excavation, by turns unsettling and uplifting. Ultimately it enlightens, daring the listener to stay true in an ever-darkening world with unwavering dedication to the truth.
REWILDING, her debut solo album, is out in June.
At its pulsing heart, cello and voice inextricably sing together, recorded live as one voice.
On stage, Mediterranean textures interweave with Irish melody blending ancient sounds with hints of electronica, where hypnotic marranzanu (Sicilian mouth harp) and tablā meet Chapman Stick, and flute, sax and tin whistle float and soar between layered vocals and cello.
Skillful storytelling and haunting lyricism draw the audience into a primordial world reminding us of the truth that we are all interconnected. The intention is to sing what is alive, illuminate the realm of the imagination, follow the heart to the dark place where it leads to then reemerge bathed in the serenity of a barely whispered lullaby. REWILDING knows this: scratch beneath the surface and you will find we all want to be wild again.
Bronagh Slevin is known for her singer-songwriter collaboration with Bristol band Crustation at the peak of the Trip Hop movement. Purple, with its iconic remixes by legendary J Dilla for a Tribe Called Quest, and French Band Air, was included on many compilations, such as She: a Female Trip-hop Experience and Ibiza Chill, among others, while Flame’s Mood II Swing remix was added to various Ministry of Sound clublists. Both tracks are now taking their place on playlists across DSPs. The album Bloom, considered a Trip Hop masterpiece, has finally been reissued on streaming platforms (Sony Music UK, 2026), following a long-awaited limited vinyl edition from Music on Vinyl (SOLD OUT).
